Ingestion and provenance

What came in, what became a fact, and who signed it.

Five documents were read in one pass. Every figure the system took from them is listed with the file it came from, the page and section it sat on, how it was read, and the role that approved it. Nothing on this ledger reaches a customer document until an approver signs it.

The effective date rule

When two documents state the same figure differently, the one with the later effective date is proposed, and a named person confirms it. That happened twice on price and once on turnaround.

The approval gate

Extraction and approval are separate steps. A figure the system is sure about still sits unusable until a role signs it. Three facts in this run were never signed.

Nothing is deleted

Superseded and rejected figures stay on the ledger with the reason and the date. A reader can see what the old number was and why it stopped being used.

How to read this ledger

Page 2 lists every fact with its source, locator, method, confidence, and approval. Page 3 shows the one place two sources disagreed, the rule that settled it, and the three facts that are still held. A fact with no approved source never reaches a customer document.

The fact ledger

Every figure, and the page it came from.

Confidence is how cleanly the extractor found the value. It is not permission. Only a signature grants that. Shaded rows are held.

15 by table parseThe value sat in a labelled cell of a real table, with its row and column headers kept.
4 by heading ruleThe value sat in prose under a named heading. Useful, and weaker. Two held figures came in this way.
3 by human entryA person typed the value and put their role against it. That is a method, not a higher grade of truth.

Disagreement, holds, signatures
Where the sources disagreed

Two documents, one figure, two answers.

Two documents state a priority calibration turnaround, and they do not agree. The system recorded both, chose neither on its own, and applied a written rule with a person's confirmation.

The rule that decided it

The source with the later effective date wins, and a named person confirms before anything is published.

The sheet takes effect October 1, 2026. The summary took effect July 1, 2026. The rule proposes two business days, and Morgan Reyes, Operations Lead, confirmed it on September 19, 2026. Higher confidence did not decide this. The dates did, and then a person did.

Selectedf-02, two business days, from src-01.
Kept on the recordf-03 was not deleted. It went to the agreement owner for the next amendment.
Until confirmationNeither figure could be quoted anywhere while the pair was open.

Held is not an error state. A quote built from this ledger today would carry no battery figure, no discount, and no priority uplift, and it would say so rather than guess.

Every figure traces back to a file, a page, a section, a method, and a person. A fact with no approved source never reaches a customer document. Nothing here is a live system: this is a demonstration built on fictional data for djvonfrank.com.
